I think I just bought a car

I have paid a bit over the odds for it. But the RAC chap did say it was in excellent condition.

Ah right, I tend to prefer Japanese cars for some reason, even though I never actually owned *a* car.

I did look a the Skoda Octava as a new car but while you can order an automatic new one there are not many in circulation in the used car market.

From my search you get more automatics in used Saab, Volvo, Mercedes, and BMW.

Yep, why should I change gear when the car can do it perfectly well on its own!

Well to each his own but I prefer to keep control of the car so I don't like automatics.

It certainly tends to be more of a big-executive-car thing. My mother had a Saab 900 2.0 automatic for a long time - nice car... (That was before they became part of GM)

Although on the plus side, the GM link means that they got their hands on Alfa Romeo's lovely diesel engine, which is actually a very SAAB engine as it's all about cruising around in a relaxed way.
