They had the opening ceremony for the new Learning & Education building just down the road from life sciences today which was performed by the Queen. All in all it was a bit of an anticlimax, the ceremony was at 11:15 but we had to be there between 9:30 and 9:45. We mingled about and then were seated in the big lecture theatre by 10. We then sat and chatted while waiting. I was lucky and had interesting neighbours to talk to. We each guessed the colour of her outfit. We had yellow, green and I went for blue. When she arrived she was in magenta. The vice chancellor said something and introduce some clever new teaching method (that turned out to be what I would call a "play"), it was about 10 minutes long. Once over the Queen stood up, pulled the cloth off the plaque, pause for press photographer and out the door. Not a word the entire time she was there.
Ho hum, seen Queen, tick, next.
